Delegate’s Report for Virtual Zoom Board Meeting 29 March 2020

Since our Board meeting of 2/16/2020, the last time we met face-to-face, the world has drastically changed, and I’m very proud of how seemingly well we have adapted. (●) ALL of my scheduled events, both AA and otherwise, have been cancelled in the face of the coronavirus. Significant cancellations included the Conference, the Boot Camp, our March ASC, and the International Conference, and I’m so thankful we were able to attend PRAASA before cancellations went viral. Yet, I’m still happy; so, happiness has been an inside job! And, though I’ll miss the face-to-face Conference in New York, I’m no less committed to attending virtually. (●) I’m particularly appreciative of how responsive Ryan W has been in accommodating so much information in myriad eblasts. That being said, I expect the frequency to dissipate now that we are prepared for the Pre-Conference. (●) I’m also very appreciative of Mitchell, and the ton of work he has done. The Google Forms in English and Spanish, all our hosted Zoom meetings, and so many other things are thanks to Mitchell’s extensive, dedicated, and timely efforts. (●) Under the current conditions, “availability” has been my current watchword. Hiro, Mitchell, and me joined the business meeting for District 1 on 3/26/2020, and I’m scheduled to participate in business meetings with District 4 on 4/1/2020 and District 12 on 4/2/2020. So, please let me know if you would like the MSCA 09 Board to attend your District meetings, and I will attempt to honor each invitation. (●) I continue to post information on the Delegate’s Bulletin Board including this report, a request that you invite the Board to your business meetings, my PRAASA talk on revising the first 164 pages, Kevin F’s PRAASA talk on a plain language Big Book, and other information. I will continue to use this as one means of communicating. (●) On 3/29/2020, we had a Zoom session with 45 members of Area 09 to talk about the Pre-Conference Workshop, which is a scheduled Zoom meeting on April 5th, from 09:00 am to 1:00 pm. We will introduce attenders to the process of accessing materials to provide feedback on the Agenda Items, talk about some specific Agenda Items, particularly Literature, and open the workshop to Q and A. I’ve spent 40 hours reviewing the background information, and I still have occasional bouts of feeling unprepared (which I’m choosing to ignore). (●) At the time of this writing, neither the April 19 virtual Conference nor the August Regional Forum have been cancelled, but we’ll have to see how it goes. Everybody stay sober and healthy!
