Background:
In 1998, by General Service Conference Advisory Action, it was recommended that a Conference Archives Committee, composed of nine delegates, meet at the General Service Conference each year as a secondary committee assignment and that it meet jointly with the Trustee's Archives Committee. Currently, area Delegates who serve on this Committee also serve on other full standing Conference Committees.

The primary purpose for making the Archives Committee a secondary Committee was, at that time, there was not enough work to justify full Standing Committee status. This secondary Committee meets at the annual conference for a couple of hours over lunch or dinner compared to other Committees that devote at least three times the amount of time to do their work.

Since its inception, this secondary Committee has become increasingly active and is now hampered by lack of available conference meeting time. If the Committee is elevated to full status, there would be no financial impact on the Conference; however, there could be an impact on how many Delegates would be assigned to serve on all the Conference Committees.
