District 05 Events and Information:
  • Septemeber 3rd-September 5th 2010 - Public Information to take on 400,000 people

The CPC committee of District 5 in partnership with Orange County Intergroup Public Information and MSCA 09 Public Information is teaming up together to have a information booth at the Orange Street Fair in downtown Orange over Labor Day weekend. This annual event in the City of Orange draws over 400,000 people during the 3 day event. With over 399,000 of the attendees drinking at this event, the need to get the message of Alcoholics Anonymous out to the masses is a strong draw for having a PI booth at this event.

This is the first time that the Intergroup and General Service structure have partnered together to staff and host such an event in this area. The purpose of the community booth is to let interested people get information about AA for themselves or for a ‘FRIEND’. The booth will be staffed with volunteers from throughout the Southern California area willing and eager to be involved in this type of service work.

English and Spanish literature is available for distribution along with an assortment of AA books. Meeting Directories will be on hand for those that need them. The more literature that gets picked up off the table and taken home the more successful the booth is. The literature that is used for this event is a direct result of your home group contributing to the different service structures of AA through the 7th tradition.

Volunteers are still need for this event. Shifts are 3-4 hours in length and run from Friday September 3 at 5:00pm until Sunday September 5 at 10:00pm. If you want to be of service and have 6 months of sobriety and a desire to spread the message of AA to the general public please send me your name and phone number and time available. Call the OC Central office @ 714-456-4555 and leave this information.  Thanks for your assistance and look forward to having some of you stop by the booth during the street fair.
